About Colin Walton

Colin Walton in Dusseldorf

I have always been fascinated with patterns, textures and colours. I remember as a child screwing-up my eyes to see the various patterns in my parents’ lurid, 60s wallpapers.

Fifty-odd years later, via an arts degree from Ravensbourne and years in the creative industry as a designer and photographer I have re-kindled my interest in patterns. I am currently working on hand rolled stencil prints, creating mobiles and working on a new pattern design using caravans.

I seem to see the world in a different way – even sheds can look amazing when combined in a stimulating design.

Placing The Pattern In A Location

To give context I have combined a selection of finished designs with a straight-on shot of the chair used in my design for mid century modern chairs. Adding a fake carpet and simple skirting board. For every image I altered the colour of the real chair to complement the surface patterns.
