Retro Pattern Design
Introducing Retro
This design started as designs for wall tiles, hence the grid lines. I liked the play on simple positive and negative shapes that meant the pattern repeat could be remarkably small.
Colour Choice
Once I had decided on the Retro title I felt I should honour that 60s and 70s era with colours from that period too. So avocado and orange were a must, followed by purple. I created other colour schemes that perhaps weren’t of that era but I just like them!
Grid Lines
My early designs had many more grid lines which after a while seemed to take over the design. The final versions have half the grid lines of the original.
Including White
I find patterns look a bit flat unless I include some white to help the colours work together. Using white for the grid holds the design together. What do you think?
The Future?
I would love this design to have a home on walls, fabrics, products and gift wrap. A lot of my patterns are already for sale through Spoonflower so please let me know if you would like to buy this design.
Would You Like To Buy This Design?
Some of my pattern designs are available to buy from my shops hosted by Spoonflower and Contrado. If you would like me to add this design to either shop please contact me and I can add it for you.
