Perfumes Pattern Design

The Origins of Perfumes Pattern

I was on the lookout for a similar pattern to my Party design where I could use real perfume bottles to create a fun, relaxed and slightly wobbly pattern.

Choosing the Perfume Bottles

As I was only using the bottles as artwork reference I went no further than my bathroom cabinet and photographed a selection of bottles in different shapes. You might recognise some, including the Jo Malone and Penhaligon’s bottle shapes.

Adding Shadows?

One of the bottles had a grey metal top so I copied this detail in my version. I added a small shadow too which added another level of detail. I decided to add a similar shadow onto all the bottles to keep them consistent.

Colouring

The initial design had yellow bottles, grey lids and a blue-grey background. I also created versions with and without labels.

I actually preferred more subtle-coloured bottles with a white background. Which do you prefer?
