Harlequin Pattern Design

Introducing Harlequin

This pattern is based on two triangles one inverted on top of the other, creating a diamond shape. Inserted between the diamond shapes are smaller diamonds that create a sprinkling of sparkles in the design.

Design Choices

To make the pattern more three dimensional I made the top triangles a lighter shade of the bottom triangle.

The mini diamond uses the same colour spec as the larger ones.

The White Flash

I like to include white in all of my patterns to help define the other colours.

I added an extra white bar that appears on alternating sequences making the pattern more dynamic.

Choosing The Colours

The first colour combination was simple red and blue – graphic but not very exciting. I worked through a series of more unusual combinations. I particularly like the khaki and acid yellow. Which colours do you like? What other colour combinations would you like to see?
