Creating Zigzag Pattern Design
This design was above away from patterns that align to grids. The first design was less pointy, I found by stretching the whole design to make it twice the height makes the pattern more dramatic.
Colouring Zigzag
For years now I have kept notes where I see unusual colour combinations. I delved into this resource and experimented with alternative schemes. Using Photoshop it is easy to eye-drop the shortlist of colours to get the RGB breakdown of each one.
Experimenting with Colour Combinations
Initial versions had just two colours. I later found three colours could also work, producing colours that looked like they were from the Mid-century era.
Testing The Pattern Repeat
The full-screen versions use actual pattern repeats, set to repeat using my CSS style sheet. Meaning I didn’t need large images taking up extra time to download. The scale of the design can be altered too, again using the CSS style sheet.
Buying My Designs
Products featuring my pattern designs are available to buy from my shops hosted by Spoonflower and Contrado. As well as fabrics by the metre, they can produce my designs in a range of home decor items including; tablecloths, bedding, cushions, wallpaper, cushions and wrapping paper / gift wrap.
